Job description
POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor – Design and Field Engineering, and the technical guidance of the Senior Technologist, assists in the preparation of drawings, and performs general duties pertaining to the office.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists in the preparation of construction drawings and adds “As-Constructed” information when projects are complete.
  • Assists in the revision of City maps and standard drawings.
  • Prepares sewer and water connection drawings and “Local Improvement” drawings.
  • Assists in the preparation of sketches and presentation drawings.
  • Operates printing machine, processes print orders, folds and files drawings.
  • Assists in updating Sewer, Water and Roads Infrastructure databases.
  • Collects traffic data and assists the survey staff with the collection of field data and the layout of construction projects, when required.
  • Performs such other related duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
  • Must currently be enrolled in a civil engineering technology diploma program or civil engineering technician program;
Skills & Abilities
  • Must have a working knowledge of both manual and computer drafting including AutoCAD, engineering and mathematical formulas, tables, and equations.
  • A basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Use of a personal vehicle may be required.
