Qualifications

Responsibilities

Ovintiv’s Chief Digital Office (CDO) offers a solid foundation of knowledge and experiential training while giving university students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school in a real-world setting. As an intern, you will spend the term working closely with an experienced mentor(s) and be assigned work responsibilities intended to provide you with learning opportunities while delivering meaningful contributions to Ovintiv.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a student to work in our Denver or Calgary office, with the opportunity to work up to an 8-12 month term. Work assignments and projects may include and be related to:

  • Custom Application Development: Support the development and maintenance of custom-built digital tools.
  • Technology Innovation: Explore and leverage emerging automation and AI technologies to improve business decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze business processes to identify inefficiencies and propose digital solutions to streamline workflows.
  • AI and Automation Projects: Participate in initiatives involving MS tools such as M365 Copilot, Power Platform (Power BI / Power Apps / Power Automate / Power Pages), and other AI-driven tools such as Copilot Studio, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Assess and resolve ad hoc user issues through Office Hours related to the M365 related tools (e.g. SharePoint / SharePoint Knowledge Agent, M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform).
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in software engineering, mathematics, computer science, computer information systems, or other related technology programs.
  • Demonstrated solid academic results in your core courses, balanced with other work, volunteer or extracurricular experiences.
  • Must be enrolled as a student through April 2027.
  • Must be available May 4 - August 21, 2026, for a summer arrangement, with the option to extend to an 8–12-month co‑op term.
Must Haves
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of requirements gathering and design thinking for custom development.
  • Knowledge of at least one key analytics tool (Power BI, SQL, etc.).
  • Experience with MS Office and Git/GitHub tools.
  • Experience programming (ideally Python or JavaScript).

  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude and eager to streamline and improve process and workflows.

Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school.
