Job summary

Sun Life, Toronto-based, offers a data analyst co-op starting January 2027 for 4, 8, or 12 months (12 months preferred). The role supports Sunlife Private Wealth and focuses on maintaining reports, dashboards, and documentation, with in-person work at One York and collaboration across regions including Ireland, Canada, and the US.

You will assist with data visualization, SQL analyses, and validation while gaining exposure to cross-functional teams and many data initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related field.
• Experience writing SQL queries to analyze data.
• Experience with VBA and building Excel macros.
• Comfortable learning new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction.
• Data analysis / visualization using MS Excel.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Able to consistently meet deadlines
• Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently

This role is crucial in meeting both current client expectations and responding to future market demands. Reporting to the Manager, Data and Analytics, the Data Analyst Co-op will be responsible for the maintenance analytical solutions for the Sunlife Private Wealth team. As a member of the Data and Analytics team, the Data Analyst is integral to the success of the team. The role is responsible to maintain existing reports, dashboards and documentation. The successful candidate will also participate in a range of data and analytics initiatives across Sunlife Private Wealth by supporting testing and validation activities.

What you will you do?

• Maintain existing data assets and ensure timely delivery to business partners

Who you will be working with

This role is multi-faceted, involving collaboration across various regions, including Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Asia and the US. The successful candidate will work closely with multiple Sun Life High Net Worth teams and leaders across main functions, such as Strategic Delivery, Technology, Product Development, Operations, Finance, Actuarial, Risk, and Compliance. This position requires a versatile and adaptable individual who can navigate the diverse needs and perspectives of stakeholders in different countries and functions to drive the organization’s data and analytics objectives. This opportunity is available to students with an April2027 or later graduation date.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for.
