Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst - Co-Op to join our team in Richmond, Brampton or Montreal. This 8 to 12 months term begins January 2027 and offers hands-on learning across security disciplines.

You will monitor networks, investigate incidents, implement protections, and collaborate with IT and security teams to strengthen systems. Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant program and able to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program in information security, computer science or a related field.
• Knowledge of security standards and frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST.
• Strong problem solving and thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor computer networks for security events or threats.
• Investigate security breaches and other cyber security incidents.
• Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
• Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.
• Work with security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities.
• Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
• Stay current on IT security trends and news.
• Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
• Perform penetration testing.
• Help colleagues install security software and understand information security management.
• Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
• Stay up-to-date on information technology trends and security standards.

We’re on the hunt for a Cybersecurity Analyst - Co-Op on our team at our Brampton, Montreal or Richmond offices. This is an 8 to 12 months term starting in January 2027.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a college or university program in information security, computer science or related field
• Knowledge of security standards and frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST
• Strong problem solving and thinking skills
• Knowledge of computer network penetration testing and techniques.
• Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.
• Must be able to work both independently and in team environments
• High degree of maturity and excellent communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with ethical hacking and/or penetration testing
• Background in software development or programming
• Understanding of social engineering

Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
