A university students' organization is seeking passionate undergraduate students for its Artificial Intelligence Task Force, focusing on advocacy for AI in education. Members will meet monthly and engage in discussions related to student interests in AI. Interested candidates should apply with a cover letter outlining their interest by October 17th, 2025.
The University of Alberta Students' Union (UASU) is looking for passionate students to join the Vice President Academic’s Artificial Intelligence Task Force (AITF). The task force will act as a consultative body to the Vice President Academic’s advocacy around artificial intelligence for the 2025-2026 academic year. They are also tasked with creating a list of advocacy priorities for students on Artificial Intelligence in their learning and university experience.
The purpose of the AITF is to engage students in the conversation around Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the University of Alberta, its use in the classroom and beyond. As AI rapidly evolves and becomes commonplace, it is vital that there are informed, proactive and responsive guidelines in place to ensure responsible, sustainable, and ethical use of this technology. The AITF is a space in which student priorities are consulted with and a greater model for advocacy is planned.
The UASU is looking for up to six (6) Students-at-Large who will sit on the Artificial Intelligence Task Force. For more information on the specific duties, please contact the Vice President Academic, Katie Tamsett, at vp.academic@su.ualberta.ca.
This committee will meet approximately once or twice a month. The meeting schedule is subject to change based on the availability of committee members. Committee members are expected to attend as many meetings as possible, and carefully review all meeting materials in advance so they can make informed decisions.
Please apply through this Bamboo posting and, in a cover letter, tell us why you are interested in joining this task force.
