Job summary

Sun Life is seeking an Associate Support Engineer co‑op within the Data & Analytics Operations group. You’ll work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment with strong supervision while learning critical skills.

You’ll gain experience with GenAI/LLMs, Amazon Bedrock and Quick, cloud tech, and data ETL tools, while developing presentation and communication abilities across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent, graduation April 2027 or later.
  • Experience with DevOps tools – Bitbucket, Ansible.
  • Experience with ETL tools and data transformation.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and SQL/Unix/Linux basics.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to AI Incubator initiatives as part of the Data & Analytics Operations team.
  • Learn and apply GenAI/LLMs, Bedrock, and Quick to real-world problems.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Collaborate across Sun Life teams to deliver reliable solutions.

About the Role

Data & Analytics Operations group is looking for an Associate Support Engineer co‑op to join the team. The Associate Support Engineer must be capable of working in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment. The role requires an individual who is comfortable working with full support but minimal supervision.


What will you do?


  • AI Incubator - it's a team not a product, program or application

  • This is an amazing opportunity to really get involved with the team’s strategy

  • You will need experience with GenAI/LLMs, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Quick

  • You must be a self-motivated individual that learn quickly and brings fresh ideas to the table

  • You must be eager, curious and able to communicate vision at all levels of the organization

  • You possess solid problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and technologies


What experience and skills should you have?


  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent with a graduation date of April 2027 or later

  • Experience with DevOps tools – Bitbucket, Ansible

  • Experience with ETL tools – data transformation tools

  • Experience working with cloud technology

  • Knowledge of SQL servers, and Unix/Linux with an understanding of basic commands of both

  • Familiarity (academic/theoretical) of programming languages, tools, processes, and principles relevant in support engineering – Python and R specifically

  • Analytical Skills – Will work individually and collaborate with the team. Must have innate curiosity to understand and the drive for deep dives.

  • Proficient in multi-tasking and time management – must be able to manage multiple assignments and prioritize with support

  • Strong interest in learning new technologies and solving complex problems

  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences (written, verbal, and presentation communication styles)

  • Ability to present findings to team, managers, and stakeholders

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teams within Sun Life

  • The ability to anticipate problems and provide creative, quick, and reliable solutions

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted for. The Base Pay which you will be considered for will vary depending on the Campus program you are selected for. Eligible Sun Life employees for various Campus Graduate programs will also participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
