Job summary

Business Development Bank of Canada seeks a Student Analyst, Business Performance and Analytics, to turn complex data into meaningful insights. You will develop and maintain analytical models and dashboards using SQL, Power BI and Azure Databricks for several business lines.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, translate data into recommendations, and grow technically in a purpose‑driven banking environment with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a university program in business intelligence, data analysis, financial engineering, finance, information technology, mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong SQL skills and good knowledge of data modelling, mathematics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Azure Databricks and Excel.
• Able to understand business processes, data structures and reporting needs with curiosity for data engineering and data visualization.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Turn strategic priorities, regional objectives and business needs into clear performance indicators and dashboards for multiple business lines.
• Validate and transform data from internal systems and external sources to support analysis.
• Build, maintain and improve data models and dashboards using SQL, Power BI and Azure Databricks.
• Prepare analysis related to productivity, efficiency, costs and profitability to inform management decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and teammates to ensure accurate, actionable insights.

As a Student Analyst, Business Performance and Analytics, you will play an active role in supporting BDC managers and executives through business intelligence, performance and financial analysis, as well as create dashboards that help guide strategic and operational decisions.In this role, you will work at the intersection of data analysis, business intelligence and financial performance. You will contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of analytical models, Power BI dashboards and performance measurement tools that support several BDC business lines, including Financing, Growth and Transition Capital, and Advisory Services.
