Job Summary
We have an immediate opportunity for a Structural Engineer in the Los Angeles area. This position requires management and development of new projects from data collection to execution. The ideal candidate will play an active role in research, design, and strategic decision‑making for new projects. It is a hybrid role with two days in the office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the substation structural engineering lead, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Execute substation capital projects that significantly impact financial and operational aspects.
- Lead a team in structural engineering analysis, calculations, design, detailing, and CAD‑supported drafting for facilities.
- Review and stamp drawings, perform structural analysis, foundation and member designs, build designs, and evaluate new and existing facilities.
- Define structural engineering requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
- Provide recommendations, reports, and status updates to project management and construction teams.
- Oversee design contractors to ensure quality, adherence to construction schedules, budgets, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, business partners, design contractors, permitting authorities, and management.
- Provide expert guidance on new installations and evaluate existing structures.
- Support construction activities and coordinate with field teams and inspectors on issues such as emergency restoration due to wildfires, storms, and other incidents.
- Mentor and train colleagues and partners to develop departmental capabilities.
- Travel throughout service territory to provide engineering services to clients.
- Conduct site visits to provide construction support, inspections, gather data, perform engineering analysis, and prepare calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain confidentiality with all client procedures, processes, and assets.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- California Civil PE license required.
- Five+ years of experience in structural consulting engineering.
- At least five years of experience in structural consulting engineering (duplicate; retained for completeness).
- Three years of experience modifying engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and other design programs.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License.
