Overview

WSP is looking for a motivated, dynamic, and innovative Structural Engineer to join our BC Structural Engineering Group at our Kelowna or Kamloops office. This role is ideal for a self-starting, client-focused Structural Engineer who will be the first member of our Buildings Structural group in the Okanagan. While based in either Kamloops or Kelowna, the successful candidate will work closely with the broader BC team, contributing to projects across the region. We have exciting projects in the Okanagan and recognize the growing need for these projects to be delivered by individuals who live in the communities we are building. Reporting to the BC Structural Director, this position will evolve to lead a team and expand our presence in the Okanagan.

What you’ll do
  • Lead projects with minimal supervision.
  • Perform engineering calculations for various structures.
  • Use advanced design software and finite element modeling.
  • Demonstrate capabilities in seismic design and knowledge of BCBC and NBC.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with clients and other disciplines.
  • Ensure quality project deliverables and oversee preparation of drawings and specifications.
  • Write technical reports and conduct field reviews and inspections.
  • Assist in proposal preparation.
  • Mentor junior staff and develop innovative solutions.
  • Approach projects with curiosity and a client-centric perspective.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace and designs.
  • Advance computational design and model interactions.
  • Occasionally travel within Canada for project-related work.
About you
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • 5+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering
  • Skills in structural engineering analysis software – SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc
  • Strong people skills, customer service mindset

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $91,200 to $125,400
