Job summary

BBA Consultants in Toronto, ON, Canada, is seeking a Structural Engineer with 10–15 years of experience to work on heavy industrial projects across Canada. You will apply structural design and stress analysis skills, using 3D modelling and advanced calculation tools, while growing toward professional engineer registration.

You will lead design tasks, mentor junior staff, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to studies in mining and power sectors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil-Structural Engineering; master’s preferred.
  • 10–15 years of experience in heavy industrial structures and foundations.
  • Proficient with structural analysis software (SFrame or SAP2000) and drawings.
  • PEO with PEng designation; CSA S16 and CSA A23.3 knowledge.
  • English fluency; French or Spanish is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare calculations, specifications and detail designs.
  • Design steel and concrete structures and foundations.
  • Supervise production of design drawings and review contractor shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with team members; mentor junior staff throughout projects.
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical).
  • Prepare estimates, schedules and budgets as required.
  • Plan, organize and review work (drawings, calculations, specifications).
  • Perform periodic site inspections when required.

This is a unique opportunity for you to work withexperts and engineering professionals across Canada on interesting andchallenging projects. You will serve as a technical resource and work closelywith our experts, engineers and designers on stimulating heavy industrialprojects in the mining and power sectors, including studies.Thispositionwill allow you to directly apply and develop your knowledge in structuraldesign and stress analysis. You will be exposed to modern design tools,including 3D solid modelling and complex calculation software. As timeprogresses, project duties and responsibilities will increase, facilitating yourregistration as a professional engineer.

Overview of certifications and job requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil-Structural Engineering. Having a master’s degree in structural engineering will be considered as an asset.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in designing heavy industrial structures and foundations
  • Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., SFrame, SAP2000, or equal)
  • Member of the PEO with PEng designation
  • Proficient with CSA S16 and CSA A23.3 requirementsAbility to read drawings
  • Proficient with computer-based tools
  • Adept in written and spoken English, required to prepare reports and presentations
  • Asset: experience with dynamic analysis
  • Asset: experience with finite element analysis
  • Asset: knowledge of work site supervision and inspection
  • Asset: fluent in French or Spanish
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
