LAPORTE, a consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Toronto to lead and coordinate industrial structure design and analysis projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PEO) is required.
  • OIQ membership is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial or steel structure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of design and construction codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead a project from design to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingualism (French/English) an asset.
  • Experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, S-Frame or equivalents) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and design structures for industrial buildings, foundations, mezzanines, platforms, and equipment supports.
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, plans, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide on-site technical support including coordination and inspections.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural solutions.
  • Participate in client and contractor meetings to ensure project quality.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers on projects.

Senior structural engineer

We are looking for a senior structural engineer with ideally a minimum of 7 years of experience in structural design and analysis, who will contribute to the integration of structural solutions in our industrial projects. This person will play a key role in the design, implementation, and coordination of structural engineering solutions, in collaboration with our multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and design of structures for industrial buildings, foundations, mezzanines, platforms, and equipment supports;
  • Prepare technical documents (calculations, specifications, plans, reports);
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (Quebec Building Code, CSA, CNB, etc.);
  • Provide technical support on site: coordination, inspections, work monitoring;
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (processes, mechanical, electrical, building) to integrate structural solutions into projects;
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and partners to ensure the quality and smooth running of projects;
  • Supervise and support less experienced engineers and professionals in the context of projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or equivalent discipline;
  • Engineers, Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), required;
  • Engineers who are members of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) are an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in industrial or steel structure projects;
  • Excellent knowledge of design and construction codes and standards;
  • Proven ability to lead a project from design to completion;
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingualism (French/English) an asset;
  • Experience with structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, S-Frame, or equivalent) is an asset.
