Your Contribution

Your main responsibilities

Protostatix, a division of Englobe, is currently seeking Structural Engineers for our Edmonton office. We are also considering candidates for our Calgary office.

• Must be proficient in wood construction projects.
• Perform structural site investigations, inspections, reviews, gather data, and prepare technical reports, site review/inspection reports, and compliance letters.
• Describe existing structural conditions and provide engineering solutions through Structural Condition Assessments and engineering studies.
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design of structural elements including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, light-gauge metal, and precast, adhering to the latest applicable building codes and standards.
• Manage and generate deliverables (drawings & specifications) for structural projects with accuracy and completeness.
• Manage projects to meet schedule and budget targets.
• Interact regularly with clients and contractors throughout project duration.
• Review designs and drawings from junior team members and engineers-in-training, providing mentorship and feedback.
• Review contractor submittals and shop drawings, developing design solutions and modifications as needed based on site conditions.
• Market our services to new and existing clients through business development initiatives.
• Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules.

Your Profile

What makes you unique

• Registered with the provincial professional engineering association (e.g., APEGA).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
• Experience in Wood Construction Projects.
• 5+ years of experience in structural design of buildings and components, including renovations and new structures.
• Extensive knowledge of Canadian building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, ACI, NBCC, etc.).
• Experience in project management and contract administration.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce detailed reports and specifications.
• Experience with structural analysis and modeling software such as ETABS, SAFE, SFRAME, etc.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Alberta, including remote areas.
