Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Structural Designer to join the Energy and Resources Design team in Canada. You will work on diverse projects from studies to detailed engineering, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality structural design solutions globally.

The role emphasizes mentoring, leadership of junior designers, and adherence to safety and quality standards while contributing to project success and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • At least six (6) years of experience in the industrial consulting industry or an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to develop Revit content such as custom families and managing parameters.
  • Knowledge in CAD/BIM tools such as Recap, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Forma, Inventor and Reality Capture workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong written/verbal communication.
  • Strong understanding of design concepts with emphasis on structural design.
  • Teamwork and willingness to lead projects and mentor others.
  • Graduate of Technical/College Design/Drafting program with relevant experience.
  • 6+ years in engineering consulting or construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply Stantec Safety Culture and health and safety rules.
  • Perform modeling, drafting and structural design tasks for a wide variety of projects.
  • Complete project deliverables on budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and project teams to produce quality deliverables.
  • Mentor junior designers and support career development.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control per guidelines.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal teams.
  • Travel to local project sites as needed.

We are currently seeking a Structural Designer to join the Energy and Resources Design team. The successful candidate would have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detailed engineering and construction support for projects in North America and across the world. Your Key Responsibilities
  • You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
  • Perform modeling, drafting and structural design tasks for a wide variety of projects.
  • Complete project deliverables on budget and schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project teams to produce quality design deliverables with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Work with Engineers and Junior Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members.
  • Travel to local project sites as needed.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • At least six (6) years of experience in the industrial consulting industry or an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to develop Revit content such as custom families and managing parameters.
  • Knowledge in utilizing and understanding CAD/BIM tools such as Autodesk Recap, Civil 3D, Navisworks, ACC/Forma, Inventor (preferred) and workflows with Reality Capture (point cloud data) and GIS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of design concepts, with an emphasis on structural design.
  • A strong sense of teamwork, especially in remote collaborative environments. Desire to lead projects and coach or mentor other team members.
  • Graduate of Technical or College Course in Design/Drafting, or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position.
  • 6+ years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.

Pay Range

Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$68,200.00 - $98,900.00 Annually

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$72,300.00 - $104,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
