Job description
Structural Design – Intermediate Civil Engineer

CFA: a different kind of engineering firm, asking a different kind of question

At Chisholm, Fleming and Associates (just call us CFA), we understand that when it comes to hiring people, it’s not all about us, and that we also need to ask …What’s in it for you? At CFA, there’s a lot in it for you. In exchange for being the great employee that every company wants to have, with us you get to:

  • Work in a diverse, collaborative, inclusive environment where people are encouraged to be creative, come up with new ideas and share what they think
  • Build on what you can do and know through hands-on learning, mentoring and training—whether you are at the beginning or your career or somewhere else along the way
  • Grow in more than one direction by being an important part of a smaller company— you’ll take on more responsibility, earn greater recognition for your work, gain more exposure to new practice areas, and have a bigger impact on the company’s success
  • Be a valued part of a company that knows that holding on to good employees has to be a core business strategy
  • Balance your work and life in an office that appreciates that life gets busy, too
  • Join a history of success at one of the oldest engineering consultancies in Ontario—we’ve been an important part of the province’s development for the last 60 years and now we have our eyes on the next 60

If these sound like good reasons for working at a company, then here’s what we are looking for …

A professional engineer with at least 7 years of experience who’s worked with municipal structural design, such as:

  • conducting structural inspections (OSIM)
  • design of new and rehabilitation of bridges
  • culverts
  • retaining walls
  • other various municipal structures

and whose background includes environmental assessments, functional planning, detailed design, construction administration, preparation of specification and tender documents, project management (PMP certification is an asset)

Leadership and business development

We are looking for an intermediate engineer because we want someone to grow into a leadership role in the company. We want someone who’ll contribute to project direction and quality assurance and give technical input and guidance to project team members. We also want an intermediate engineer who’ll contribute to proposals development and liaise with clients.
