A broad skillset in material application is an asset (steel, wood, concrete, steel stud), with learning on the job expected and creative adaptation of retained knowledge a requirement. Your position will have you involved with all aspects of project delivery including design, client and contractor management, and field review of the work you produce.
Description: Your work will demand application of your skills to solve problems in an existing building environment. Our work enhances resilient design, and promotes extending the service life of existing buildings, thereby reducing embodied carbon in our built environment. Your success will be built on forging relationships with clients and staff alike; demonstrating responsiveness through situational awareness; technical excellence based on creative thinking, while remaining practical; and leveraging the knowledge around you and the experience you bring to the table.
Education: Degree in civil engineering from accredited university with courses that include structural engineering design and analysis; Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with EGBC.
Experience: 0 to 3 years previous experience in structural engineering or construction; Experience in a consulting firm environment.
Skills: Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what work is required and who can draw rational conclusions from information available; Demonstrated and effective communication skills – both written and verbal; Team player with ability to work as part of a group or independently; Strong time management skills to successfully balance working on multiple projects simultaneously; Fast learner with a desire to grow professionally and personally; Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time; Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
