Job summary

We are recruiting for a Strip Fitter / MET Technician to join a leading UK automotive bodyshop. Based in Peterborough, this full-time role offers a 40-hour week with no weekends and a competitive hourly rate, plus overtime opportunities.

You will strip, repair and refit vehicle components, preparing cars for painting and ensuring top quality workmanship within agreed timescales. Ongoing training and career progression are available in a modern, well-equipped workshop.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Strip Fitter or MET Technician or Bodyshop Technician in an accident repair centre.
• Experience in stripping, refitting, and preparing vehicles for paint.
• Skilled or semi-skilled technicians are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in high-quality work.
• Positive attitude with ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Strip and refit vehicle components safely and efficiently.
• Remove and refit trims, bumpers, lights, panels and mechanical parts.
• Prepare vehicles for the paint process.
• Identify damaged components needing repair or replacement.
• Collaborate with Paint, Panel and Quality Control teams.
• Maintain high standards while meeting timescales.

The Role

As a Strip Fitter / MET Technician, you'll play a key role in the repair process, ensuring vehicles are stripped, repaired and rebuilt to the highest standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Stripping and refitting vehicle components safely and efficiently
• Removing and refitting trims, bumpers, lights, panels and mechanical components
• Preparing vehicles for the paint process
• Identifying damaged components requiring repair or replacement
• Working closely with Paint, Panel and Quality Control teams
• Maintaining exceptional standards while working efficiently to agreed timescales

About You

We're looking for candidates who have:

• Previous experience as a Strip Fitter, MET Technician, Vehicle Trimmer or Bodyshop Technician
• Experience within an accident repair centre, bodyshop or vehicle preparation centre
• Skilled or semi-skilled technicians are encouraged to apply
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
• A positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
