Job summary

Sportchek is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support enterprise-wide procurement in Technology and Marketing, including media, events and related services. You will lead sourcing strategies, engage stakeholders, and negotiate terms to maximize value while ensuring compliance.

You will partner with legal and internal teams to ensure contracts meet business needs and governance standards, while driving process improvements and cost reductions across supplier portfolios.

Qualifications

  • University degree, College/Technical Institute diploma, or equivalent work experience in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in Technology and/or Marketing procurement or strategic sourcing.
  • SCMP/NISCL/MCIPS or equivalent designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes: sourcing, RFx, negotiations, contract review, stakeholder mgmt.
  • Experience in Technology and Marketing procurement categories (software, SaaS/cloud, hardware, services) and related marketing categories.

Responsibilities

  • Lead agile sourcing processes for Technology and Marketing categories, including evaluation and negotiation strategies.
  • Manage sourcing and contracting for medium to high-complexity tasks with suppliers.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist position is responsible for supporting enterprise-wide sourcing, contracting and negotiating activities related to Technology and Marketing, including Media and Events.

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to understand procurement requirements and lead agile sourcing methodology, including determination of the evaluation and negotiation strategies for assigned projects.

Sourcing and contracting for Technology and Marketing related purchases, including software (SaaS/Cloud), hardware, telecommunications, managed services, infrastructure, cybersecurity solutions, consulting services, marketing, media, advertising, sponsorships, events, print services, creative agencies, market research, promotional materials, venues, catering, audiovisual, event production and related professional services of medium to high complexity.

Responsible for leading the sourcing and contracting process for medium to high complexity tasks, including supplier investigation, development of sourcing strategies, bid solicitation/RFx, supplier evaluation, negotiation of pricing, commercial terms and conditions, and completion of procurement-related sourcing and contract documentation for varying types of Technology marketing related, media and event contracts with new and existing suppliers.

Facilitate the contracting process with internal and external legal counsel following applicable compliance and governance review processes, including Security, Privacy, Information Governance, Tax, Risk, bank compliance and other stakeholder reviews, as required.

Work collaboratively with all business areas and the Technology organization to contract solutions and services that successfully meet business priorities.

Act as the liaison between internal business units and external suppliers.

Strategic Sourcing Specialists will also maintain ownership of specific supplier or business client portfolios.

Contribute to, and demonstrate, the value of Procurement services for each initiative, working with the objective of increasing the use of Procurement services, ensuring the procurement lifecycle is followed, and industry best practices are introduced throughout the procurement and sourcing lifecycle.

Work with Technology and business teams to ensure contract terms, service level agreements, deliverables, performance metrics, support models and escalation procedures are understood throughout the sourcing and contracting phase.

Negotiate pricing, rebates, service levels, deliverables, licensing requirements, commercial terms and contract structures to maximize value and mitigate risk.

Manage governing agreements, transaction documents, and related commercial documents.

Monitor supplier compliance with contractual obligations and enterprise policies, support supplier business reviews, resolve supplier issues and manage escalations with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Analyze spend data and supplier portfolios to identify category/portfolio opportunities, cost reduction initiatives, supplier rationalization, value-added services and process improvements.

Take initiative in providing subject matter expertise, support and training new hires in Procurement.

Identify areas of opportunity for cost savings, cycle-time reduction, stakeholder experience improvements, risk mitigation and process improvements.

What you bring

University degree, College/Technical Institute diploma, or equivalent work experience in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Technology or a related field.

Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Technology and/or Marketing, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Category Management role, preferably with experience supporting Technology and/or Marketing, Media, Advertising, Sponsorships, Events or Professional Services spend categories.

SCMP/NISCL/MCIPS, or equivalent professional designation is considered an asset.

In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and core competencies, including strategic sourcing, RFx development and execution, supplier negotiations, contract review, commercial analysis and stakeholder management.

Experience supporting Technology procurement categories, including software, SaaS/cloud, hardware, managed services, infrastructure, cybersecurity solutions, telecommunications and Technology consulting services.

Experience supporting Marketing procurement categories, including media buying, creative and production agencies, sponsorships, event management services, market research, print services, promotional materials and related professional services.

Strong leadership skills and presence, a remarkable sense of accountability and a demonstrated ability to construct procurement strategies and solve problems.

Outcome-focused critical thinker with the ability to analyze data, assess risk, identify opportunities and support continuous innovation.

Collaborative team player with superior influencing, communication, presentation and negotiation skills, who builds relationships easily across cross-functional groups to move initiatives forward.

  • Broadband Salary Range: 64,000.00 - 106,000.00 CAD Annual. Our typical hiring range is between $64,000.00 - 85,000.00 CAD per annum. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
