Job summary

Utah Community Credit Union is seeking a skilled loan underwriting specialist to evaluate credit applications, analyze financial data, and ensure compliance with lending policies. You will review credit reports, appraisals, and income documents to support responsible lending decisions.

Working with loan officers and home equity staff, you will help maintain portfolio risk levels, deliver timely loan decisions, and promote member-focused financial solutions.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or equivalent work experience; business coursework preferred.
• At least three years of loan officer or underwriting experience in consumer, residential, or home equity lending.
• Knowledge of financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, appraisals, and related documentation.
• Familiarity with credit union loan services, policies, procedures and required documentation.
• Awareness of applicable legal and regulatory standards guiding lending decisions.
• Ability to analyze credit applications with accuracy and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze credit and collateral risk for portfolio loan products to support responsible lending decisions.
• Evaluate loan risks and determine if requests meet underwriting standards and policy requirements.
• Present loan requests exceeding lending authority for approval per loan policy.
• Facilitate timely, accurate loan delivery while ensuring a positive member experience.
• Promote appropriate loan products and loan protection based on member needs.
• Partner with loan officers to strengthen understanding of loan processes and standards.
