A leading health organization in Toronto is looking for an Intellectual Property Counsel to join its Legal Affairs Department. The role involves providing strategic intellectual property advice, managing patent prosecution, and supporting commercialization efforts. Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree with a scientific/technical background and a Bachelors Degree in Law.
  • A designated Canadian and/or US patent agent.
  • Minimum four (4) years of practical experience.
  • Significant patent law and prosecution knowledge required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with legal and business colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for selecting and prosecuting high priority IP assets.
  • Provide expert patent prosecution advice to commercialization colleagues.
  • Act as a liaison between licensing and legal teams.
  • Participate in training for UHN personnel on legal and regulatory matters.
