This position is part of the corporate enterprise operations team supporting all Lockheed Martin business areas and interests across Canada.

Specific Job Description:

The Lockheed Martin Global Business Development team is looking for a strategic thinker who appreciates a dynamic environment and is willing to learn. As a Strategic Analyst you will play a multi-faceted supporting role on our team. You will support the planning, coordination and administration of new business strategy initiatives in Canada. You will also inform the design and implementation of government relations strategies to shape public policy and political decisions in the Government of Canada. In this role, you will be connecting internally across Lockheed Martin business areas and externally with various customer, government, and business organizations in the defence sector. You will deliver informed public policy, government relations and business analysis advice to leaders to advance corporate priorities in Canada. You will work from our downtown Ottawa office to provide support to both the Chief of Staff for Global Business Development Canada and Latin America and the Head of Government Relations for Canada to support growth of Lockheed Martin in these areas.

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff you may be responsible for:
Strategic Analysis and Planning
  • Defense Industry Analysis – Produce trend analyses, primary/secondary market studies, and other reports that inform strategy and marketing
  • Public Policy and Political Analysis – Produce background papers, briefings, and visualisations that capture how Canadian policy shifts affect the business.
  • Strategic Opportunity Analysis – Continuously scan markets and the defence sector to flag emerging threats, trends, and opportunities, then translate these insights into products to enable internal communication.
  • Support the rollout of integrated plans, set metrics, and ensure corporate‑level alignment.
Government Relations Support including:
  • Customer mapping – Build, monitor and update customer stakeholder maps
  • Coordinating all engagements with government stakeholders as requested by the Head of Government Relations to include scheduling briefings, visits, and advocacy initiatives
  • Monitor the legislative pipeline and advise leadership.
  • Support government relations campaigns by engaging with industry associations to shape advocacy
  • Provide Support for Government Visits – Develop agendas, brief coordinators, and deliver impact analysis for visits with elected officials and senior regulators.
Executive and Stakeholder Communication
  • Prepare, review, and deliver high‑quality briefing and executive‑level materials, including preparation materials ahead of senior government engagements, (VP presentations, leadership meetings, etc.) with data analysis, visualizations, and actionable insights.
Project Management and Workflow Support
  • Build stakeholder maps, workflow charts, and dashboards to help define scope, milestones, budgets, and issue‑resolution mechanisms to keep projects on track.
Ad‑hoc Analysis and Issue Resolution
  • Conduct focused, on‑call analyses to investigate operational challenges and implement approved enhancements.
Collaboration and Confidentiality
  • At all times maintain strict information‑security protocols while working cross‑functionally to achieve team and corporate goals.
Required skills, qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study and at least three years of relevant experience in government or private sector organization with government relations or marketing focus.
Experience must demonstrate an ability to:
  • exercise sound judgment, prioritize tasks, and seek guidance when needed while working independently
  • navigate ambiguity with resourcefulness and a detail‑oriented, analytical, and inquisitive approach to both qualitative and quantitative data assessment.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience:
  • Proficiency in public policy research and analysis
  • Prior experience supporting federal government policy issues (particularly in defence and security).
  • An understanding and appreciation for defence and aerospace customers and their missions
  • Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Relations or similar discipline is considered an asset
  • Knowledge and interest in Canadian politics and engagement in Canadian politics is an asset
Experience demonstrating an ability to:
  • influence strategic planning and drive change in a structured, hierarchical yet evolving organization.
  • craft executive‑level presentations from complex information—storyboarding, writing, and designing impactful decks
  • maintain exceptional written communication skills for reports, briefs, and formal correspondence.
