STORES TECHNICIAN III
General Description of Class
Third level of the Stores Technician series, under general direction performs complex as well as standard stores duties; or works independently performing standard stores duties.
Typical Duties
The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of responsibility involved in the job. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.
Independently performing standard stores duties:
(a) loads and unloads material and equipment; stores in appropriate areas as assigned;
(b) delivers materials and equipment to appropriate areas as assigned;
(c) receives incoming materials and equipment, ensures correctness and matches physical material with appropriate paper work and/or purchase orders;
(d) properly records items received; maintains appropriate files and/or computerized inventory system;
(e) performs cleaning duties within stores area;
(f) performs periodic and annual inventory count;
(g) may drive and operate light vehicle in making deliveries and operate fork lift; complex stores duties:
(h) leading and directing stores technicians I and or II or III
(i) advises customers, stores technicians and others about material and equipment in stores area; such as product pricing, availability, safety data;
(j) contacts suppliers directly and reorders stock items;
(k) oversees the receiving, delivering and disposing of sensitive and dangerous items;
(l) maintains and upkeep’s computerized inventory system;
(m) drives, operates and maintains vehicles and fork lifts;
(n) other related duties as required.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent, related post secondary education is preferred.
Experience:
Four years of related experience is preferred.
Preferences will be given to applicants with experince working Chemical Stores Operation in a Univeristy or private sector setting
Other:
Possession of provincial class "G" driver's license( may require provincial class "D" driver's license)
Physical ability to perform required duties
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
Ability to lead
Tact in dealing with people
Ability to operate computerized inventory system (experience preferred)
Ability to drive, operate heavy duty vehicles and equipment
Ability to work independently
