Job summary

Le Livart in Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal is seeking a friendly Sales Associate to oversee the shop and gallery on weekends, handle visitor reception, and drive sales.

You will open/close the gallery, assist customers, manage online orders and inventory, help with displays, and occasionally create social media content. French and English required; passion for art a must.

Le Livart is an art centre located in a former rectory in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood. It brings together a gallery, artists’ studios, a school, an event space and a shop.

Its mission is to make art and culture more accessible by creating a space where children, teenagers and adults can create, gather and connect.

As part of the growth of its shop and commercial activities, Le Livart is looking for someone to oversee sales, visitor reception and customer service in the shop and gallery on weekends.

This position is particularly well suited to a student looking to gain sales experience, discover the art world and work in a dynamic cultural environment.

The versatile sales associate plays an important role in the visitor experience at Le Livart. They open and close the gallery on weekends, welcome visitors, guide them as they discover the artworks and actively contribute to shop sales.

They also contribute to the daily management of the shop, including online orders, inventory, product displays and occasional content creation for social media.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the gallery on weekends.

Profile required

• Strong interest in visual arts, the cultural sector and Montréal’s art scene.
• Customer service skills and an interest in sales.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several small tasks efficiently.
• Good knowledge of social media.
• Excellent command of French and good command of English.
• Experience in sales or customer service is an asset.
• Studies in art, design, marketing, business administration, sales or a related field are an asset.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign or Canva, or an interest in photography and design, is an asset.

Conditions of employment

• 12 hours per week.
• Regular schedule on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• On-site work at Le Livart in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood.
• Availability required for exhibition openings approximately four times a year, usually on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
