Job summary

Campus Living Centres is seeking a Store Clerk to maintain customer satisfaction and store cleanliness in the residence-based convenience store. You will process transactions quickly and accurately while engaging with students and guests on site.

The role requires superior customer service skills, cash handling experience, and the ability to follow OHSA and WHMIS training and store safety procedures. You will work per store policies and assist with inventory and reporting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills required.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Position Summary and Job Magnitude

The Store Clerk is responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction and store cleanliness at all times. They must be able process transactions with a high level of speed and accuracy. The Store Clerk will work out of the Convenience Store located within the residence and have a high level of interaction with students and guests.

2. Essential Functions and Basic Duties

• Demonstrate a high degree of customer service
• Be able to use Campus Living Centres computer software
• Be able to handle cash, and other forms of payments
• Ensure store cleanliness standards are met
• Assist with inventory counts and stock taking
• Be able to lift up to 20 lbs
• Produce assigned Convenience Store reports and tasks
• Communicate pertinent information between staff
• Know how to handle phone calls with patience and decorum
• Respect student and guest privacy
• Knowledge of emergency procedures
• Works in compliance with the provisions of internal policies regarding the safe storage and handling of food products
• Adheres to policies and procedures as required per the franchise agreement with M&M Food Market
• Any other duties as assigned

Health & Safety

• Work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the OHSA, regulations, and Campus Living Centres (e.g. wearing safety shoes, confining hair, jewelry, or loose clothing around moving parts, etc).
• Online training modules and in-person training must be completed before starting regular duties.
• WHMIS 2015 and GHS system, and standard operating procedures training must be completed prior to beginning regular duties.
