Stage Carpenter / Omni Tech - Theatre Practitioner - Level 2 or 3

The Opportunity
This position requires a background in stage carpentry with basic competencies in other departments. The role may include assisting in lighting, staging, sound, and video departments depending on production needs.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support the events during the Slaight residency, reporting to the Production Manager.
- Administer the stage carpentry department, directing crews with safety and within staffing, equipment, space, and time frameworks.
- Assist in assessing costs for scenic and staging elements.
- Coordinate scenic/staging construction, installation, and restoration, actively participating in building processes.
- Assist with load-in/load-out of performance equipment and on-stage setup, including risers and musical equipment.
- Attend rehearsals and sound checks.
- Assist with stage changes during performances.
- Select and operate tools safely.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Level 2: minimum 3 years' experience in theatre or performing arts production.
- Level 3: minimum 5 years' experience in theatre or performing arts production.
- Formal theatre education.
- Experience supporting live music is preferred.
- Experience working in a fly house is an asset.
- Proficiency with computers, multimedia, and specialized equipment.
- Knowledge of theatre theories and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Ability to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of industry trends, techniques, materials, and safety standards.
- Ability to apply professional theatre techniques to ensure quality and efficiency.
Special Requirements
- Flexible, irregular schedule including weekends.
Employment Terms & Benefits
- This is a unionized, hourly position with a 500-hour probation period.
- Level 2: $22.59 - $25.85/hour, up to 40 hours/week, rotating schedule.
- Level 3: $27.17 - $31.51/hour, up to 40 hours/week, rotating schedule.
- Two term positions available: October 1-18, 2025, and October 4-21, 2025.
