Scribd, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the Content Library and Core Infrastructure for its production datastores.

You will design and implement Rust services, oversee deployments, and collaborate with data, ML, and product teams at scale. This role requires deep Rust and Python, experience with AWS and data formats like Parquet/Arrow, plus a track record of building high‑throughput systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend, distributed, or data‑intensive systems.
• Proficient in Rust and Python for production software.
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform) and data formats (Parquet/Arrow).

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and operate the Content Library's core Rust services at scale.
• Own features end‑to‑end from design through production operations.
• Evolve the Python userland and support engineers across the company.
• Lead cross‑functional projects with ML, search, product, and data teams.
• Drive performance and cost‑efficiency across the stack.
• Strengthen governance: data lineage, access controls, and deletion propagation.
• Mentor the team and improve the developer environment, including AI workflows.
