About the team + role

The TestX team empowers teams to catch bugs early and confidently through fast, scalable, and reliable testing infrastructure. The team provides centrally-managed, community-supported platforms that integrate closely with each step of the development workflow at Robinhood.

The team focuses on several areas:

Personal Development Environments: isolated production-like environments that allow engineers and non-engineers alike to experiment and explore.

Integration Testing: end-to-end, cross-service testing that runs on every diff and gates lands to master. Additional testing on a staging environment and on deploys.

Load Testing: Delivering a comprehensive framework for executing load tests and identifying service bottlenecks across Robinhood.

What you’ll do

• Design large-scale systems within the team, making the right tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability
• Set up and drive technical directions of projects while also driving long term vision and strategy
• Supporting core backend systems for the team and helping build out new greenfield initiatives
• Partner cross functionally to ensure teams are set up for success in regards to their testing and use of the product
• Ensure maintaining resiliency for services with high traffic
• Mentor and up-level the team

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience building and leading the design and implementation of critical infrastructure systems and services in a microservices architecture
• Experience working on Kubernetes and familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Exposure with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Buildkite and build systems such as bazel
• Exposure to load and scale testing platforms and functional testing in staging or pre-production environments
• Passion for building solutions to counter significant challenges related to scalability
• Familiarity with storage and caching systems like postgres, redis and dynamodb
• Passion in mentoring other engineers and improving the engineering craftsmanship!

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan.
