Job summary

Google Waterloo, ON, Canada is seeking a Staff Software Developer for Cloud Source's Software Delivery Trust. You will work on secure, scalable source code management and software supply chain security infrastructure.

Lead critical cloud-native projects, collaborate with product and foundations teams, and help transition to AI-first capabilities that automate the software lifecycle while maintaining enterprise-grade security and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of software development experience.
  • 5 years of large-scale distributed systems experience.
  • 5 years of experience with Cloud APIs or secure multi-tenant cloud infra.
  • 2 years with software supply chain security, OIDC/IAM policy delegation, or cryptographic signing.

Responsibilities

  • Support architectural evolution and influence the future technical direction of Google Cloud's source code management and software supply chain security infrastructure.
  • Transition SCM products into an 'AI-first' era by enabling agents to autonomously orchestrate the software development lifecycle.
  • Design and develop next-generation managed software supply chain security services at the intersection of systems development and identity security.
  • Lead with Cloud foundations teams to meet stringent security and compliance requirements for enterprise and public sector customers.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Tech Leads to prioritize work and maintain system reliability, including on-call rotations.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with large scale distributed systems.
  • 5 years of experience with Cloud APIs or building secure, multi-tenant cloud infrastructure environments.
  • 2 years of experience with software supply chain security, OpenID connect (OIDC), identity and access management (IAM) policy delegation, or cryptographic signing frameworks.
  • Experience programming in Go.

Another key area is developer connect, which bridges Google Cloud with third-party SCMs through essential infrastructure connections and provides actionable SDLC context for agents. Additionally, software delivery trust is an upcoming product that provides keyless signing, attestations, and policies to ensure integrity of all development artifacts from source code to production.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

  • Canada: $216000 - $221000 (CAD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Design and develop the next generation of managed software supply chain security services at the intersection of systems development and identity security.
  • Act as a leader among leaders, partnering with Cloud foundations teams to build and deliver robust platforms that meet the stringent security and compliance requirements of enterprise and public sector customers.
  • Partner with Product Managers and other Tech Leads to prioritize opportunities, efficiently distribute work to the team, and maintain system reliability by participating in Cloud Source on-call rotations.
