Job description

The Role

MongoDB is seeking a Staff Product Manager to lead strategic initiatives across Identity and Security. In this role, you will serve as the senior product leader shaping the next generation of authentication, authorization, and access control across MongoDB Atlas, the core database engine, and emerging developer platforms.

You will lead the strategy for non-human identity—spanning workload identity federation, zero-trust passwordless access, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and autonomous AI agentic identity. You will partner closely with engineering, UX, product marketing, and enterprise customers to build identity experiences that are enterprise-grade, seamless for developers, and secure by default.

Responsibilities
  • Set and champion a multi-year product strategy across interrelated identity areas, aligning dependencies and investments to MongoDB’s broader objectives

  • Identify cross-cutting customer and market opportunities, build business cases for investment, and bring a clear point of view to senior stakeholders

  • Lead workload identity federation and programmatic access initiatives across cloud and enterprise identity environments

  • Define secure authorization approaches for AI agents and MCP clients, including delegation, identity lifecycle, policy, and administrative controls

  • Drive developer-first access management, ensuring security controls enhance rather than obstruct developer velocity

  • Partner with engineering, design, GTM, and cross-functional leadership to validate enterprise requirements, prioritize initiatives, and measure feature adoption

  • Stay ahead of evolving cloud security paradigms, emerging standards (e.g., SPIFFE/SPIRE, O4AA), and AI access patterns to guide executive decision-making

  • Represent MongoDB’s security and identity vision at industry events, customer advisory boards, and executive briefings

  • Demonstrate creativity, an innovative spirit, and a bias towards action

Requirements
  • 8+ years (or equivalent experience) in Product Management, Security Architecture, or Technical Leadership focused on IAM, Cloud Security, or Enterprise Infrastructure

  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading through ambiguity without direct authority, including establishing decision frameworks or operating mechanisms that improve execution

  • Deep domain knowledge in authentication, authorization, federation protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM), and policy-based access management (RBAC/ABAC)

  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud identity models across AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as secret-reduction strategies (e.g., IAM roles, short-lived tokens, vaultless access)

  • Conceptual and practical understanding of AI agent workflows, tool-calling interfaces (MCP), and non-human identity security challenges

  • Track record of building intuitive developer or administrative experiences for complex backend/infrastructure technologies

  • Strong executive presence, public speaking ability, and experience engaging directly with CISO/CIO stakeholders

  • Ability to serve as a trusted subject-matter expert, mentor other PMs, and raise the quality of product thinking across teams

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have
  • Experience with zero-trust architectures, SPIFFE/SPIRE, or machine-to-machine service meshes

  • Understanding of database security models (TLS/x509, SASL, field-level encryption, audit logging)

  • Familiarity with governance models for autonomous AI workloads and multi-tenant authorization

  • Active participation in security standard bodies, industry panels, or open-source identity communities

  • Advanced degree (M.Sc., MBA, or Ph.D.) in a technical or business discipline

Success Measures
  • 2 Months: Build a comprehensive understanding of MongoDB Atlas and core database identity architectures, mapping existing technical debt alongside emerging workload and agentic identity requirements

  • 4 Months: Establish trusted relationships across Engineering, UX, and GTM teams; deliver an audited, prioritized stakeholder matrix and product hypothesis framework for machine identity capabilities

  • 6 Months: Own and execute the identity roadmap while driving measurable enterprise customer adoption
