Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a Staff Data Scientist in Toronto. The role combines ML/DL expertise with strong software engineering to build and deploy production-grade ML solutions at scale in a hybrid, 12-month contract.

You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and analytics teams to optimise, operationalise, and scale analytical products while mentoring others and promoting best practices across engineering and MLOps.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of machine learning and deep learning algorithms, including model development, validation, optimisation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade ML solutions at scale.
• Experience developing machine learning models, and evaluating emerging technologies and tools to deliver innovative data-driven solutions for business stakeholders.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including advanced Python development, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience performing code reviews and promoting coding standards, software design principles, and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Git, GitHub, version control, and collaborative software development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop models using advanced ML/ DL techniques to generate actionable insights and value for business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and analytics teams to operationalise and scale ML solutions.
• Mentor team members and promote software engineering and MLOps best practices across the team.
• Drive technical excellence through design reviews and code quality improvements.
