Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking an advanced data scientist to explore datasets with Spark, develop statistical inferences from basic estimates to complex models, and ship production-ready code. You will lead PL08 data scientists, guide multiple projects, and mentor teams while applying Bayesian statistics to distinguish meaningful results from noise.

The role requires hands-on experience with PySpark, Python and Scala, strong analytical abilities, and knowledge of ML, anomaly detection, and NLP.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical abilities and solid grasp of foundational concepts.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with PySpark, Python, and Scala. Exposure to NLP recommended. Experience with supervised/unsupervised ML, anomaly detection, and Bayesian statistics.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-level approaches to vague problems.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

• Strong analytical abilities Strong understanding of foundational concepts
• Min 3 years of hands‑on experience with Pyspark, Python, Scala Focused on data science but NLP exposure will be recommended. Supervised/ Unsupervised Machine Learning, Anomaly detection, Bayesian statistics.

Nice to Have

• Experience coming from Cyber security background.
• Has a good understanding and implementation of LLM tools.
