About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Data Developer to join our Data & Intelligence division. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering, you will design and implement scalable, complex data pipelines and infrastructure to power our data products.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to enhance the reliability and performance of our data systems, while influencing the enterprise‑wide data architecture. You will also mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in data engineering.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, cost‑effective, and reliable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure alignment with product and customer success teams.
- Architect and implement data storage solutions (data lakes, warehouses, real‑time processing systems) and supporting cloud infrastructure.
- Optimize pipelines for performance, scalability, cost‑efficiency, and automation.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all systems.
- Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams for seamless deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Document workflows and processes for knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Stay current on industry trends in data engineering, ML, and cloud computing.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers.
What You Bring to the Team
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with data software development.
- Experience with AlayaCare’s stack (Python, PHP, Vue.JS, AWS).
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
- Strong skills in DBT, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Iceberg, Spark, and AWS (ECS, S3, Aurora, RDS).
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, and Flink.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in dimensional data modeling and semantic layer design.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience in Agile development methodologies.
- Mindset encouraging transparency, accountability, and trust.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, home health, or medical devices.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts & tools.
- Bilingual in French and English.
