FedEx Canada is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to provide timely and cost-effective maintenance for the vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. The role covers preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and thorough documentation.

You will perform inspections, troubleshoot issues in shop and outdoor settings, operate diagnostic equipment for gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic systems, and maintain safety procedures to meet company and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Automotive service technician accreditations preferred.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Seven years fleet experience.
  • Basic Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
  • Basic electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic testing equipment for gasoline, diesel, hydraulic systems.
  • Basic welding knowledge and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs and maneuver up to 150 lbs with equipment.
  • Complete set of automotive/truck hand tools; metric sizes.

Job description

Provides timely, quality, cost effective maintenance for Federal Express vehicle fleet and ground support equipment. The role requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and comprehensive documentation.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, modifies, and performs preventative maintenance inspections on field vehicle fleet and ground support equipment.

• Troubleshoots service issues for G.S.E. and heavy equipment in both shop and outdoor environments.

• Operates all automotive diagnostic testing equipment, gauges, and tools for gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic powered equipment.

• Maintains safety procedures, including welding safety, and ensures compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician accreditations/certifications/licenses preferred
  • Valid Provincial Driver’s License (Class 5, G, or equivalent)
  • Seven (7) years fleet experience
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills
  • Basic electronic troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of automotive diagnostic testing equipment and tools for gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic equipment
  • Basic knowledge of welding and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
  • Complete set of automotive or truck hand tools, including metric sizes and storage cabinets
  • Valid G license and good driving record
  • Diagnostic Software proficiency: JPRO® Professional Heavy Duty Software, Allison DOC®, Cummins Insite Professional, Ford IDS w/VCM-2 Rotunda, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, Mercedes, and other preferred platforms
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components up to 70 lbs and above with mechanical assistance.
  • Successful placement in ramp positions requires passing the Transport Canada, RCMP, and CSIS background assessment based on five years verifiable background information.
