Job summary
A leading engineering firm in Canada, Alberta is seeking an experienced engineer to assist in improving machine and process quality. You will provide technical support, lead initiatives, and ensure compliance with safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have a NITEC Diploma and substantial experience in the field, as well as strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 8 years of experience with NITEC or 2 years with Diploma.
- Strong understanding of process and equipment/machineries.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers to improve machine/process yield and quality.
- Support achievement of department goals: lead initiatives and drive improvements.
- Provide technical support to production for machine issues and preventive maintenance.
- Execute validation and conduct training for new machines/products.
- Engage with engineers/supervisors and suppliers for technical exchanges.
- Ensure compliance with EHS procedures.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist engineers to improve machine/process yield and quality: analyze issues, implement corrective actions, support failure analysis and CAPA resolution.
- Support achievement of department goals: lead PMT, SGA and VIP initiatives, drive OEE and productivity improvement, provide technical expertise for Kaizen, further enhance machine performance through process modification.
- Technical support to production: resolve machine issues and breakdowns to minimize unplanned downtime, manage and implement effective preventive maintenance program, spare parts management.
- New machine/product start-up: execute IQ, OQ & PQ validation, compile and prepare training materials, conduct training for technicians and operators, identify/evaluate alternative methods or technologies.
- Engagement with engineers/supervisors and suppliers: technical exchange of information, input on issues and proposals for resolution, evaluation of purchase parts and request for quotation.
- Responsible for compliance to EHS procedures and requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: NITEC (NTC/ITC) Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: NITEC (NTC/ITC) with at least 8 years or Diploma with 2 years experience, SME on key processes and equipment/machineries.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good understanding of basic design of jigs and fixtures.
- Good understanding of mechanical/electrical drawings and control system (PLC).
- Team player, resourceful, with good attitude and teamwork.
