Job summary

Propel Holdings in Toronto is seeking an experienced Java developer to design and build scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will work with Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST, and SQL, leading/mentoring junior developers and delivering end-to-end projects.

The role emphasizes taking ownership, staying current with industry trends, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying CI/CD practices, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes to deliver reliable software in a fast-growing fintech

Qualifications

• 12+ years of work experience as a Java developer or similar role.
• Experience leading/mentoring junior developers.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and REST.
• Hands-on SQL (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc.).
• Knowledge of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and React.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience building full-stack apps with React is a plus.
• Ability to adopt AI tools in day-to-day tasks.

• Design and develop scalable, robust and reliable applications using Object Oriented Programming languages (Java)
• Write efficient, clean and maintainable code
• Continuously improving the quality of software through reviews, testing and refactoring

Requirements

• 12+ years of work experience as a developer (Java) or any similar role
• Computer science and math enthusiast
• Experience developing enterprise level financial applications
• Hands-on experience in leading/mentoring junior developers
• Experience with Spring Boot + Hibernate/JPA + REST
• Hands on experience with SQL (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc.)
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Service (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, and React
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Experience/Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and workflows
• Any hands-on experience building full-stack applications using React (nice to have)
• Experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) is an asset
• Ability to integrate or adopt AI tools in day-to-day tasks

Salary Range

$110,000 – $140,000

Final compensation is determined by market conditions, location, and the candidate’s experience, skills, and education. This role may also be eligible for performance-based incentive programs and total compensation may include variable incentives, such as bonuses and commissions.
