Amazon Web Services is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer III for the RDS for Oracle team in Vancouver, BC. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll own the architecture and delivery of complex features that run at massive scale — powering mission-critical database workloads for enterprises around the world.
The scope here is genuinely full-stack: from kernel-level optimizations and storage architecture to customer-facing APIs and operational tooling. You'll work across the AWS ecosystem, integrating Oracle with services like EC2, VPC, and IAM, while helping define the product roadmap and mentoring the engineers around you.
In this position, you'll lead the design and implementation of large-scale distributed database systems on AWS, with a focus on high availability, scalability, and performance optimization. You'll engage directly with enterprise customers to translate their requirements into technical specifications, and collaborate with account managers and solutions architects to deliver database solutions that meet real business needs.
Beyond building features, you'll contribute to product strategy, drive agile development cycles, and ensure that all solutions meet security and compliance standards including FedRAMP, GDPR, and HIPAA. You'll also create technical documentation, whitepapers, and best practices guides for both internal teams and customers.
The base salary range for this position is $150,700 to $251,700 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. Preferred: 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience; Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent; experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings; experience in Oracle DB or NoSQL databases; experience with open source tools; experience with cloud infrastructure or managed services.
