We are currently seeking a Sr SAS Developer to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CA-NS), Canada (CA).

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Seeking a highly skilled SAS Developer with strong Data Science capabilities to design, develop, and optimize data‑driven solutions. This role combines advanced SAS programming with modern data science techniques to deliver actionable insights, predictive models, and robust analytics for business decision‑making.

SAS Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain SAS programs for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Create and optimize SAS macros, stored processes, and automated workflows.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational standards.
Data Science & Analytics
  • Apply statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive analytics to solve business problems.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and feature engineering for model development.
  • Build and validate models using Python/R alongside SAS tools.
  • Interpret and present insights through dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
Data Management
  • Work with large, complex datasets from multiple sources (structured and unstructured).
  • Implement data quality checks and governance practices.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Document processes, models, and workflows for transparency and reproducibility.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in the required role with strong proficiency in SAS Base, SAS Macro, SAS SQL, and SAS Enterprise Guide.
  • Minimum 8+ hands‑on experience with Python or R for data science tasks.
  • Minimum 8+ years of knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical techniques, and predictive modeling.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience with large datasets, relational databases (SQL), and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Degree: Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.

Nice to Have (But not must)
  • Experience in healthcare, finance, or insurance analytics.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark).
