Overview
Description The Senior Project Accountant’s primary responsibility is to support the Construction Services team regarding contract modifications, compliance, payments, reports and any other duties related to the project. The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the profitability of the job, monthly profit and loss, ensuring accurate % of completion recording each month and will be required to coordinate with the Project Management team. This position reports to the Controller.
What You’ll Do
- Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects or contracts.
- Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting, specifically acting as liaison between the Accounts Receivable team and the Construction Services.
- Manage invoicing, payments, taxes, reporting and compliance for assigned projects.
- Have an understanding of compliance requirements for assigned projects.
- Maintain SOP for project accounting to ensure all parties are clear on responsibilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset to continually improve processes.
- Process project related vendor invoices accurately and within assigned timeline.
- Process sub-contractor payments accurately and within assigned timeline.
- Collect and track compliance documents.
- Generate reports including Payroll, A/R, Contract Status, and Job.
- Prepare monthly profit / loss statements for each contract in accordance with US GAAP.
- Analyze results and provide insights to Construction Services leadership.
- Prepare Purchase Orders and monitor goods receipts / related accounting.
- Prepare sales invoices and ensure tax compliance.
- Other related accounting and finance duties as assigned or needed.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls.
What You Bring
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or similar business.
- Minimum 5 years’ prior experience working as a project accountant.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable and vendor payments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Key competencies are Communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability.
- Microsoft Office suite.
- GCPay.
- Textura.
