Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of experience in Networking.
  • Minimum of 5 years in Enterprise Network and Security Systems.
  • 3 or more years in Telecom and Data Services.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with Palo Alto and Juniper, certifications preferred.
  • Experience in IT Service Management and ITIL is an asset.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

Job description

In the role of Senior Network Analyst at The North West Company (TNWC), we are seeking a detail-oriented and task-focused professional to join our dynamic Network and Telecom team. This position is responsible for managing, supporting, and optimizing the company’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls; Juniper and Ruckus switches; Cisco routers and switches; and Ruckus and Cisco wireless access points, along with a strong understanding of enterprise networking and security best practices. Familiarity with telephony and data services, as well as data center and cloud infrastructure, is also beneficial. This role reports to the Network & Telecom Manager and Director within the IT department.

Your Role:
  • Follow all company mandated health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be a self‑starter and can work independently, as well as in teams.
  • Will participate in Level 3 after‑hours on‑call rotation, with additional compensation.
  • Gather and document business requirements for network, infrastructure, and related systems.
  • Actively audit services and pursue ways to reduce and optimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement the configuration and installation of network systems and service of in our offices, warehouses, commercial stores, and staff housing.
  • Troubleshoot various network and related system outages, making timely corrective measures to ensure no repeat system issues.
  • Communicate effectively in the explanation of various products and providing tutorials on how to operate the newly installed equipment and services.
  • Will be responsible for providing internal business and IT stakeholders with adequate and timely information for making appropriate decisions.
  • Understand customer requirements and expectations, and provided timely updates.
  • Manage and update open incidents, service requests, and monitoring/alerts in our ITSM tools.
  • Development of technology diagrams, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SoP).
  • Open tickets with vendors and service providers for outages and coordinate with field services contractors and providers for repairs.
  • Ensure all systems are effectively monitored and alerting to our 24x7 Network Operations Center.
  • Actively pursue and establish a closer relationship with other Information Technology team members.
  • Assist in the coordination of network projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the vendor management and selection of solutions, suppliers and service providers.
  • Assist with the CAPEX and OPEX budget, Purchase Order, and Invoice process.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of all network equipment by location using out IT Assessment Management (ITAM) tools; and,
  • Participate in all network and security audit (External & Internal) reviews and assessments.
Desired skills & Experience:
  • 7 or more years of experience is required in Networking.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience required in Enterprise Network and Security Systems/Tools.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Telecom and Data Services.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Palo Alto and Juniper. Certifications is a great asset.
  • Experience in IT Service Management and ITIL would be an asset.
  • Project management experience, network cabling and point‑to‑point (P2P) wireless expertise, and mobile device management (MDM) experience are considered assets.
  • Able to travel occasionally to stores and offices across Canada, including Northern and remote areas and First Nations communities, with optional travel to locations in the United States and other international destinations.
  • Strong desire to learn and collaborate in a team environment, with a professional, trustworthy, and positive attitude supported by excellent work ethics and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency including email, Windows, and Microsoft 365 (Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, Visio), with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and support tickets simultaneously.
  • Ability to use required PPE and telecom/network tools, and perform physical duties including lifting up to approximately 30 lbs.
  • Able to participate in an on‑call rotation and work occasional evenings or weekends to support planned projects or major outages.
