Role Summary

The Sr HR Manager is the HR leader responsible for our consumer flexible plant and its ~320 employees. The Sr HR Manager will lead a small HR team to help drive a positive & productive culture, build an environment of trust and accountability, and deliver HR excellence and process improvement. This role is the primary point of contact for the managers and employees and provides expertise and guidance in the areas of culture and performance and talent management, talent development and learning, compensation, conflict management, employment relations and leadership coaching. The Sr HR Manager executes the HR strategy in support of the client’s business objectives and the Mondi HR strategy & objectives as a connected partner for the site’s leadership team.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a strong functional partner to the Hinton MD and to drive cohesive decision‑making, foster collaboration, and drive the development and execution of key HR initiatives that align with business goals and Mondi HR strategy.
  • Provide dedicated guidance and coaching to managers and employees with specific focus on: employee advocacy/engagement, employee relations management, performance management, career development, talent assessment, acquisition and retention and workplace investigations as appropriate.
  • Provide employees and managers with an available first point of contact for questions and guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues; escalates concerns beyond their scope to relevant stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with MD, Segment HR Business Partner, Americas Region HR Leader and HR CoE professionals to drive a cohesive and aligned HR agenda and execute business‑specific HR strategies.
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment.
  • Lead key HR processes including performance, talent management, payroll, compensation planning, onboarding, hiring, training & development, new manager assimilation, etc.
  • Partner with Americas Regional HR leader and HR CoE to align on and execute relevant HR projects or initiatives as needed across multiple client groups at site.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to ensure that all employee relations issues are properly identified, reported, investigated and resolved.
  • Ensure local compliance and governance on the tactical administration of benefits & compensation and collaborate closely with regional total rewards lead to ensure benefits and reward schemes are meeting the needs of the business.
  • Ensure all HR matters are handled fairly and consistently with local laws and regulations and our company compliance regulations.
  • Maintain and protect confidential data with utmost scrutiny, judgment, and care.
  • Overall responsibility includes communication responsibility of the site.
Your Qualifications:
  • Post‑secondary education certificate or degree in Human Resources related area from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in a client support HR role, preferably in an industry environment with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Professional HR Certification preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of employee relations as well as local labor laws and government requirements.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is desirable.
  • Developed (oral and written) communication and diplomacy skill set with the ability to influence others by presenting sound and logical arguments tailored to the audience.
  • Hands‑on self‑starter who has a demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively and work independently while being able to effectively navigate and partner in a matrix environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and capable of handling multiple issues and/or projects simultaneously and executing to completion.
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing, project management, organizational and change agent skills.
  • Passionate, employee advocate who wants to make a difference in the organization by helping employees succeed.
  • Approachable and responsive resource able to connect with employees at all levels.
  • Strong customer service focus, with a high level of responsiveness.

  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
