Job summary

Stantec is seeking an engineer specializing in mine tailings management to support the Tailings and Mine Waste department in Montréal. This strategic role requires strong technical expertise and leadership within the Canadian mining sector.

The candidate will design tailings storage facilities, conduct dam safety reviews, and contribute to project deliverables across study phases, while mentoring multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus.
PhD in Civil Engineering is an asset.
OIQ membership in good standing is required.
Minimum 15 years of geotechnical mining experience.

Responsibilities

Design and plan tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and waste rock storage facilities (WRSFs) and water management systems.
Conduct risk assessments, dam safety reviews, and inspections; analyze performance and optimize.
Develop closure and reclamation plans per regulatory requirements.
Prepare and review technical documentation; support field teams and collaborate with related disciplines.
