We design, develop, and implement comprehensive Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data Sovereignty, and AI Readiness programs. Our practitioners leverage expertise in cloud‑native platforms, data policy frameworks, and industry best practices to ensure data is managed as a strategic asset. By establishing rigorous data quality and ethical standards, we prepare clients to confidently adopt advanced AI/ML solutions. This role is central to driving organizational intelligence and transforming our clients' businesses through sound data management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Development of Data Strategy: Work directly with C‑suite and senior business stakeholders to define and document a future‑state data strategy and roadmap that aligns with key business objectives.
- Establish and Mature Data Governance: Design, implement, and operate formal Data Governance frameworks, including defining organizational structures, data policies, standards, and processes.
- Drive AI Readiness Assessments: Conduct maturity assessments on client data environments to determine AI readiness, focusing on data quality, data accessibility, and the ethical use of data for machine learning initiatives.
- Consult on Data Sovereignty and Compliance: Advise clients on regulatory requirements (including global and Canadian laws like PIPEDA) and design solutions to ensure data sovereignty and compliance are maintained.
- Define Target Data Architectures: Collaborate with technical teams to translate strategy, policy, and AI/ML data requirements into practical cloud‑based data architectures.
- Program Management & Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage project delivery teams, oversee engagement scope, budget, and risk, and effectively collaborate with technical teams (Data Engineers, Architects) and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Deep Consulting Experience: 5+ years of experience delivering complex data‑focused consulting engagements (strategy, governance, quality, policy) at a major consulting firm.
- Expertise in Data Governance Frameworks: Extensive, hands‑on experience designing and deploying Data Governance operating models and policies.
- Certified Knowledge in Data Management: Proven certification in Data Management, preferably DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent demonstrated knowledge.
- Data Sovereignty & Compliance: Strong understanding of global data privacy and residency regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, sector‑specific rules) and the strategic implications for data management.
- Data Technology Acumen: Familiarity with the commercial landscape of Data Governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation) and cloud‑native data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Executive Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, strategic recommendations for business leaders.
- Problem‑Solving: Proven ability to structure complex, ambiguous business problems and develop practical, impactful solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience with Canadian Data Law: Experience consulting on Canadian data privacy and regulatory laws, such as PIPEDA and sector‑specific legislation.
- Familiarity with Responsible AI: Understanding of Responsible AI principles and how governance and data quality impact model fairness, transparency, and explainability.
- Experience in defining roles and operating models for Data Stewardship and Data Ownership.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree or equivalent advanced degree is highly desirable.
