Job description
Overview

Our client located in North York requires a Sr. Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join their team. This role plays a key support function within the Firm, serving as the central point of contact for clients while working closely with the commercial real estate team. The Law Clerk is responsible for preparing and organizing legal documents, assisting with transactions, and delivering exceptional client service — all while upholding the highest standards of confidentiality.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support for acquisitions and sales of commercial properties, condominium developments, financing transactions, and land development.
  • Conduct sub-searches of title and off-title searches, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Draft e-reg. documents in the Teraview system, prepare instruments, and obtain parcels per lawyers’ instructions.
  • Assist with commercial leasing transactions.
  • Support the registration of plans of subdivision and other land development matters.
  • Manage billing processes : enter and revise time dockets, prepare pre-bills, proofread accounts, draft account letters, and issue invoices.
  • Prepare cheque requisitions, trust deposits / withdrawals, expense reports, and account balances.
  • Correspond directly with clients, lawyers’ offices, and municipalities.
  • Organize and maintain both physical and electronic files.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Legal Administration and / or Law Clerk program, or equivalent experience.
  • 4–6+ years of experience in a commercial or residential real estate law practice.
  • Proficiency with PC Law, Microsoft Office Suite, Teraview, Conveyancer, and Lawyer Done Deal .
  • Ability to manage commercial and residential purchase / sale transactions independently, from start to finish.
  • Experience with commercial loan transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Professional demeanor with high ethical standards and a commitment to service excellence.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
