Job summary

A municipal recreation department is seeking a Sr. Arena Maintenance worker to assist in the operation and maintenance of community centres and arenas. Responsibilities include ice re-surfacing, cleaning, and revenue collection. Ideal candidates have customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, and a valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver's Licence. Willingness to learn and pass skill testing is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in arenas/ice operations or willingness to learn.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance of various types of equipment preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR preferred.
  • Possess a valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver’s Licence.

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of community centres and arenas.

Department Community Services

Location Oakwood Community Centre

Hours Up to 24 hours per week; includes day, afternoon, evening and weekend hours, from October to March

Job Description
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of community centres and arenas

  • Assist in the collection of facility revenue
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/ Education Required
  • Previous experience in arenas/ice operations or willingness and ability to learn
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with preventive maintenance of various types of equipment preferred
  • Excellent customer-service, effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public and staff
  • First Aid and CPR preferred
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be required
