Job summary

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquisitions and Revenue Contracts
    • Manage acquisition processes - coordinating due diligence meetings, support collection of key inputs and support deal structuring and execution.
    • Manage RFP responses end-to-end - coordinating pricing, strategy, technical input, and bid documentation with development and financial modeling teams.
  • Analytical & Market Fundamentals
    • Oversight and peer review of financial and market models supporting pricing, hedge structures, risk evaluation, capacity/REC valuation, and exposure analysis for both new builds and operating assets.
    • Provide senior-level analytics for long-term plan cycles, budget impacts, and commercial assumptions that inform Investment Committee materials.
    • Monitor market fundamentals, competitor activity, regulatory developments, and commodity trends to inform strategic positioning across Northland's portfolio.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination & Portfolio Support
    • Partner across the business to ensure all projects have a clear, aligned commercialization pathway that reflects local market design and buyer demand.
    • Support internal governance processes - including IC memos, commercial checkpoints, and energy marketing approvals - ensuring clear recommendations and commercial risk narratives.

  • Strategic commercial thinker with a deep understanding of North American power markets.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with exceptional modeling capabilities and a track record of translating complex market dynamics into clear commercial insights.
  • Confident and relationship-driven, able to lead conversations with buyers, intermediaries, and internal executives.
  • Adaptable and collaborative, thriving in a fast-paced environment with multiple, shifting priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in the North American power industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian electricity market regulations and supply/demand fundamentals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power Point, and excellent communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering commercial presentations to senior leaders or external counterparties.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree or CFA/FRM is considered an asset.

Pay Range

$96,800.00 - $121,000.00
