Job summary

A food processing company in Wheatley, Ontario is seeking a SQF Practitioner/HACCP Coordinator to manage and coordinate all aspects of SQF and HACCP programs. This role requires strong analytical skills, HACCP certifications, and prior experience in food processing. The ideal candidate will ensure quality systems are maintained and assist with audits, all while working independently and collaboratively.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the SQF Practitioner/HACCP Coordinator will manage and coordinate all aspects of the SQF and HACCP programs for Cavendish Appetizer’s Wheatley facility. The candidate for this position will be a self‑starter with a strong work ethic, a "Can Do" attitude, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure quality system is maintained and documentation is kept up to date.
  • Train site personnel on requirements of HACCP and other related food safety programs.
  • Daily verification of processing, packaging and QA operator documents; resolve any identified document discrepancies.
  • Completion of foreign material investigations.
  • Completion of customer product summaries.
  • Coordination of sample requests for customer cuttings and testing.
  • Evaluation of product quality and assisting in the disposition of held product.
  • Conduct, schedule & manage routine sanitation and GMP inspections of processing equipment at critical points in the production area of the plant and determine potential sources of contamination.
  • Document test results and effectively communicate to Quality and Production Managers.
  • Assist Quality Manager with customer and external audits.
  • Ensure proper methods and procedures are followed to be in compliance with safety standards and Health and Safety policies.
  • Accurately maintain laboratory and shelf life testing records.
  • Work on projects as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
  • Laboratory Technician with experience in standard analytical practices and/or microbiological plating methods.
  • SQF Practitioner certification.
  • HACCP Coordinator certification and/or qualifications.
  • PCQI certification.
  • Two years work experience in a food processing facility.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer software programs.
