Job summary

Positron Access Solutions Corp in Montreal, QC, is seeking a motivated QA engineer for on-site, full-time work. You will perform manual and automated tests across networking, embedded software, and product diagnostics, document results, and contribute to release readiness.

Collaboration with firmware, software, hardware, and SQA teams is essential to improve coverage and quality. The role requires a degree or diploma in a technical field, strong Linux and Python skills, and experience with

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or technical diploma in a related field.
  • Experience in software testing, test automation, embedded product validation or networking.
  • Early-career candidates may be considered with demonstrated curiosity and learning.
  • Strong Python and PyTest scripting skills are valued.
  • Hands-on Linux experience, shell scripting and networking command usage.
  • Ability to build reusable test scripts and procedures for various testing types.
  • Ability to analyze test failures using logs, traces, captures, and debugging methods.
  • Basic Ethernet concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, switching, multicast.
  • Strong problem-solving, autonomy, attention to detail, and learning mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate with firmware, software, hardware, production and support teams.
  • Experience with Python, PyTest, Scapy, shell scripting, Git, Jira, CI/CD, automated regression testing, traffic generation, and web UI automation tools like Selenium or Playwright.

Responsibilities

  • We perform manual and automated functional, regression, integration, performance, stability, and system tests.
  • We validate features tied to networking, embedded software, configuration, diagnostics, and product management.
  • We support testing for new features, software and firmware releases, ECO verification, and release readiness.
  • We document test cases, plans, results, failures, observations, and verification evidence clearly.
  • We contribute to validation records needed for engineering release and product readiness.
  • We develop, maintain, and run automated tests using Python, PyTest or similar tools.
  • We create reusable scripts, utilities and procedures to improve SQA efficiency.
  • We enhance existing automation frameworks and test environments.
  • We build/support scripts that generate traffic, validate network behavior, collect logs and enable regression testing.
  • We improve test coverage, reliability and repeatable release verification.
  • We analyze failed tests and partner with teams to identify root cause.
  • We reproduce issues using lab setups, test scripts, network configurations, logs and structured debugging methods.
  • We log defects in Jira or equivalent systems and verify fixes.
  • We participate in sprint planning, design reviews, QA discussions and technical reviews as needed.
  • We validate networking capabilities such as Ethernet switching, VLANs, multicast, L2, IP connectivity and product management functions.
  • We support testing for broadband, multi-tenant, hospitality and carrier-grade environments.
  • We collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen product quality and investigate field problems.

Must have
  • We require a bachelors degree or technical diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Networking, or a related technical discipline.
  • We are looking for experience in software testing, test automation, embedded product validation, networking, or related product development work.
  • Early-career professionals or recent graduates may be considered if they show strong technical curiosity, disciplined troubleshooting, and a willingness to learn.
  • We value strong script development and maintenance skills, ideally with Python and frameworks such as PyTest.
  • We expect practical knowledge of Linux environments, including command-line usage, shell scripting, networking commands, logs, and troubleshooting methods.
  • We need the ability to build reusable test scripts, utilities, and procedures for functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
  • We look for the ability to analyze test failures using logs, traces, packet captures, configuration data, and structured debugging techniques.
  • A basic understanding of Ethernet networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, switching, multicast, and related technologies is important.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, curiosity, autonomy, attention to detail, and a desire to keep learning are essential.
  • The role requires the ability to collaborate effectively with firmware, software, hardware, production, and technical support teams.
  • Valuable additional experience includes Python, PyTest, Scapy, shell scripting, Git, Jira, CI/CD, automated regression testing, traffic generation, packet capture, protocol validation, network diagnostics, and web UI automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright.

This is an on-site, permanent, full-time role with a salary range of $95,000 to $115,000 per year.
