We work alongside school districts, health partners, and Indigenous service providers to offer responsive and coordinated care for children and youth experiencing mental health challenges.

The Role

As a Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinician, you’ll support the mental wellness of children, youth, and families through direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention for ages 0–18. Working flexibly across homes, schools, communities, and offices, you’ll collaborate with professionals including educators, healthcare providers, Indigenous service organizations, and community agencies to deliver holistic care. Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or a comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
  • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
• Minimum of 1 year full‑time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community‑based mental health services.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Applicants who self‑identify as having an Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
• Applicants with 2+ years of experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community‑based mental health services.

Willingness Statements / Provisos

• You must possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license (note – if you currently have a valid driver’s license in Canada, you must acquire a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license immediately).
• May be required to work evenings / weekends.
• May be required to travel to remote locations.
• May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
• May be required to work with families and children and youth who are distressed and facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant situations or behaviour with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around parents and/or children in crisis who may display volatile behaviour.

There is one (1) full‑time permanent opportunity available in Burnaby, one (1) full‑time permanent opportunity available in New Westminster, one (1) full‑time permanent opportunity available in the Tri‑cities (Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and Coquitlam), and one (1) full‑time permanent float opportunity for the posted locations.

Any temporary offers from this competition may be shortened, extended or become permanent.

Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a hybrid schedule as per the Telework Agreement upon discussion with supervisor.
