Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority's Campbell River Hospital in Campbell River, BC, is offering a regular full-time specialty RN Training Opportunity in Emergency. The program combines theory and practicum to prepare staff to work in the Island Health specialty department.

Upon completion, staff are placed into a regular full-time rotation within the specialty department. Reports to the Nurse Manager, with emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to BC standards.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
• Recent medical and/or surgical experience preferred.
• Willingness to participate in specialty training and rotation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide direct nursing care to patients in the hospital and community as per standards.
• Participate in theory and practicum training for the specialty department.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Job Description

This position represents a regular full time training opportunity (theory and practicum) to prepare staff to work in the specified Island Health specialty department. Upon completion of the training the staff member will be placed into a regular full time rotation line in the specialty department that they have been trained for.

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with recent related medical and/or surgical experience, When applicants have completed this specialty training they will be moved into a regular position within the Specialty department .

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Distance Prerequisite Courses are required with completion prior to program start date - Online courses completion (of BCIT NSER 7110 and NSCC 7150 or online ECG course with PLAR recognition) achieved while continuing in your current job. Learners must independently complete these prerequisite courses. Island Health sponsorship includes tuition, books and paid release from your current job to become a full time student in the sponsoring unit.
