Job Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? Do you want to extend your nursing knowledge? We have a training opportunity that may interest you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator of the Operating Room, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital mission statement. The role is defined by the needs of the Hospital, a select patient/family population, agency expectations and the goals for professional nursing practice.

Training & Education

Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) and Regional Education for Perianesthesia Nursing (REPAN) details: The Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) uses a standardized, evidence informed online curriculum offered by the Association of Registered Nurses (AORN), called Periop 101. This curriculum is offered throughout British Columbia, contributing to a standardized provincial perioperative education program, along with provincial continuity of care and portability of practice. RORE combines AORN’s Periop 101 online curriculum with a skills lab and clinical preceptorship to help prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care in both the scrub and circulating roles, at a novice level. The Post Anesthetic Recovery (PAR) area is a fast‑paced, highly technological, ever‑changing environment. PAR nurses balance many competing demands including continuous patient observation and vigilant monitoring using minimally invasive monitoring equipment. Nurses manage patient flow without compromising patient safety.
