Job summary

The City of Brampton is seeking a Specialized Instructor II - Technology Instructor to lead engaging technology sessions at City Hall as a part-time, temporary team member within Community Services.

You will plan and deliver safe, high-quality lessons, supervise volunteers, maintain a welcoming service standard, and handle administrative tasks while ensuring participant safety and program quality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Certification, or member, of a professional association is an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR or equivalent within 1 month of hire date, with CPR-C and AED preferred.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months.

  • Keep current with industry trends and class formats.
  • Assist and mentoring volunteers and assistants.
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation.
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports).
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately.
  • Understand, adhere to policies and procedures, and health and safety standards.

Area Of Responsibility:

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer/Coordinator, Instructors are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Responsible for the safety and well-being of participants at all times.

  • Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating lessons for all levels of participants
  • Keep current with industry trends and class formats
  • Assist and mentoring volunteers and assistants
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports)
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Selection Criteria
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Proven and demonstrated experience in one or more of the disciplines listed below
  • Certification, or member, of a professional association considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR OR Intermeditate First Aid with CPR-C and AED from an accredited organization or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of the date of hire

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
